Description

«St. Nonna» shows the righteous woman with her palms raised in prayer; the blue maphorion and red gown give a clean, almost heraldic contrast.

What the picture shows

The saint stands frontally, both palms raised to her breast in prayer. A light veil covers her head, and over it a dense blue maphorion falls in broad vertical folds; beneath it a red gown with a fine pattern and gold trim at the cuffs. The halo is gathered from golden beads, with a beaded ornamental arch and the name cartouche above. Face and hands remain printed, and the light ground with its embossed scrollwork is not beaded over: the beading is not solid.
