“St. Nikita” is a martyr with an open raised palm, in a blue mantle over a burgundy tunic.

What the picture shows

The figure is shown to the waist, fair hair falling to the shoulders, the beard short and wavy. A blue mantle is thrown over the right shoulder and gathered on the chest in large vertical folds; beneath it is a burgundy tunic with a fine pattern, and a pale ochre cloth falls on the right. His right hand is raised palm outward, his left held at his chest. The halo is gold and broad, the ground cream with a large embossed scroll. The composition rests on three fields of colour: blue, burgundy and ochre. The beads fill the mantle, the tunic and the halo, while the face, the hands and the ground stay printed on the canvas.
