Description

«St. Nazariy» shows a young martyr in a narrow wreath; the crimson cloak and green tunic give a clear, almost poster-like contrast.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, almost frontally. His hair is fair and wavy, his beard short, with a narrow light wreath on his head. A crimson cloak is thrown over his shoulder in broad folds, a green tunic with a gold clasp beneath. In both hands he holds a tall gold cross before him. The halo is golden, with a beaded ornamental arch and the name cartouche above. Face and hands remain printed on the canvas, and the cream embossed ground is not beaded over — the beading is not solid.
