Description

“St. Natalia” is a martyr with a cross and an open scroll, in a green and white head covering.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist. A green head cloth with a white lace border and a pearl rim covers her head, dark hair showing beneath it. A dark red mantle wraps her shoulders and body, falling in broad folds. In her right hand is a slim gold cross; in her left an open pale scroll with lines of Church Slavonic text. The halo is gold, the ground cream with an embossed foliate scroll and beaded fans above. The beads fill the mantle, the head cloth, the cross and the halo, while the face, the hands, the lines on the scroll and the ground stay printed on the canvas.
