Description

«St. Miron» shows the bishop with a long white beard; sand-ochre vestments in a lattice make this the calmest image in the batch for colour.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the chest, frontally. His beard is long and white, falling in a broad wave. A white omophorion with black crosses lies across his shoulders, and beneath it a phelonion of sand-ochre worked in a diamond bead lattice. His left hand holds a Gospel in a red binding with green stones, the right is raised in blessing. The halo is golden with a reddish rim, and above it a beaded ornamental arch and name plaque. Face, beard and hands remain printed on the canvas, as does the cream embossed ground — the beading is not solid.
