Icon Bead Embroidery Kit on Art Canvas "St. Gennady"
Description
“St. Gennady” is a grey-bearded monk in a blue cap and a crimson mantle.
What the picture shows
The figure is shown to the waist, the face narrow, the beard long and white. A blue skufia sits on his head, grey hair showing beneath. The mantle is crimson-red in large folds, with green clothing emerging below — the only cool accent at the foot of the icon. In his right hand he holds a small pale scroll, his left pressed to his chest. The halo is gold, the ground cream with an embossed scroll and beaded fans above. Blue, crimson and green are an unusual combination for this row of icons, and that is what makes the piece recognisable. The beads fill the mantle, the cap and the halo, while the face, the hands and the ground stay printed on the canvas.

The piece is vertical, 230×300 mm; icons like this are usually stitched for a name day or a christening, and that takes several weeks of quiet evenings. The pattern is already printed on the canvas in full colour, so there are no squares to count. The frame in the photograph is bought separately — it does not come with the kit.
