Description

«St. Faina» shows the martyr with a cross in one hand and a small vessel in the other; an almost monochrome red image.

What the picture shows

The saint stands half-turned, her head bowed. A grey-white veil with a fine pattern covers her head and shoulders. The whole lower part is a dark red mantle, worked in several close shades of bead, its folds running diagonally. Her right hand holds a gold cross, her left a small pale vessel. The halo is golden, with a beaded ornamental arch and name plaque above. Face and hands stay printed on the canvas, as does the cream embossed ground — the beading is not solid.
