“St. Daniel” is a prince-monk holding a model of a white church.

What the picture shows

The figure is shown to the waist, the face lean, the beard long and pale grey. A black monastic klobuk with a small red cross at the front sits on his head, a dark red cap showing beneath it. The mantle is brown, softly lustrous, in large folds and without ornament. Both hands hold a white church with blue domes and small crosses before his chest. The halo is gold, the ground cream with a large embossed scroll. Brown fills almost the whole field here, so the white-and-blue church works as the single light accent. The beads fill the mantle, the klobuk, the church and the halo, while the face, the hands and the ground stay printed on the canvas.
