Description

«St. Claudia» shows the martyr in a lilac cloak; a thin white veil and an olive-gold gown keep the image light.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, her head slightly turned. A white-grey translucent veil covers her hair and falls to her shoulders; over it lies a lilac-violet cloak, with a patterned olive-gold gown beneath. Her raised right hand holds a small gold cross, the left palm is open. The halo is golden, with a beaded ornamental arch and the name cartouche above. Face and hands stay printed on the canvas, and the cream embossed ground is not beaded over — the beading is not solid.
