“St. Boris” is a prince in a fur-trimmed cap, holding a sword.

What the picture shows

The figure is shown to the waist, the beard grey and rounded, the gaze level. A dark cap with a red crown and a fur trim sits on his head. His kaftan is blue-brown with a fine pattern; over it lies a heavy red cloak densely scrolled in gold — the richest ornament in the group. In his right hand, lowered, he holds a sword by the hilt. The halo is gold, the ground cream with an embossed scroll and beaded fans above. The beads fill the cloak, the kaftan, the cap, the sword and the halo, while the face, the hands and the ground stay printed on the canvas.
