“St. Anna” is a saint in a blue maphorion, her hands folded before her chest.

What the picture shows

A female figure to the waist, slightly turned. A deep blue maphorion closely covers her head and shoulders, the beads following the diagonal of the folds; a pale under-cloth shows at the neck. Below the waist a dark red gown falls in broad vertical folds. Both hands are brought together before her chest, the fingers barely touching. The halo is gold with a thin rim; the ground is cream with a large embossed scroll and beaded fans above. The palette is short and quiet: blue, deep red and gold, with no bright accent anywhere. The beads fill the maphorion, the gown and the halo, while the face, the hands and the ground stay printed on the canvas.
