Description

“St. Angelina” is a saint in a jewelled headdress and a golden-brown mantle.

What the picture shows

The most heavily ornamented icon in the group. A dark green headdress densely set with green and blue stones covers her head, with a violet veil falling to one shoulder. The mantle is golden-brown in large soft folds; beneath it a violet gown with a row of jewelled fastenings running its full length. Her right hand is pressed to her chest; in her left is a prayer rope. The halo is gold, the ground cream with an embossed scroll. Because of the number of small details this piece works up more slowly than its neighbours, even though the kit has the same number of colours. The beads fill the headdress, the mantle, the gown and the halo, while the face, the hands and the ground stay printed on the canvas.
