“St. Anastasia” is a saint in a blue veil, holding a vessel of oil.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, almost frontally. A blue-and-white striped veil covers her head and shoulders, the beads laid across the folds. Over it is a deep blue mantle, with a green gown showing beneath in wide leaf-shaped folds. Both hands hold a tall copper-brown vessel with a narrow neck. The halo is worked in warm golden beads with rays; the ground is cream with a large embossed scroll. The beads fill the mantle, the veil, the gown, the vessel and the halo, while the face, the hands and the ground stay printed on the canvas.

The vertical 230×300 mm sheet leaves a margin around the figure, so the work never looks crowded. It is easiest to start with the large colour fields of the clothing and leave the small accents — the crown, the cross, the border — until the hand is used to the size of the beads. The moulding in the photograph is shown for reference only — it is not in the kit.
