“St. Alexandra” is an empress in a green headdress, a gold cross in her raised hand.

What the picture shows

The saint is shown to the waist, almost frontally. A green-turquoise headdress covers her head with a gold crown above it. The colour scheme is complex: a blue shoulder piece with red inserts, a crimson gown dense with gold pattern beneath, and a band of green at the side. In her right hand, raised to the shoulder, is a gold cross; her left is raised palm outward. The halo is gold, the ground a warm ochre-cream with an embossed scroll. This is one of the richest palettes in the group. The beads fill the headdress, the shoulder piece, the gown, the cross and the halo, while the face, the hands and the ground stay printed on the canvas.

The vertical 230×300 mm format keeps the figure large and legible even from a distance. The canvas is dense, holds tension in a hoop and does not stretch under the weight of the beads, so the edges of the finished piece stay straight. The carved moulding in the photograph is not included: it is chosen separately after the embroidery is done.
