Description

«St.Agatha» shows the martyr in a small red-and-gold diadem; a grey-white wrap and lilac gown keep the image in a cool key.

What the picture shows

The saint stands almost frontally. A diadem of red and gold beads sits on her head, dark hair falling from under it. Over her shoulders is a grey-white wrap with a fine pattern, and beneath it a lilac-violet gown with red cuffs and gold trim at the neckline. Her left hand holds a dark cross, the right is raised with an open palm. The halo is golden, with a beaded ornamental arch and the name cartouche above. Face and hands stay printed, as does the embossed ground — the beading is not solid.
