Description

“Lovely birds” puts two birds inside a heart of branches, all in a single red thread. The motif follows the Scandinavian monochrome tradition.

What the picture shows

The design is built as a large heart formed by two branches: they start at the bottom, part as they rise and curl into fine scrolls with leaves and knotted berries. Two birds sit inside that heart with their backs to the edges — the bodies are outlined, the wings marked with a few stitches, the beaks almost touching. A small double-outlined heart sits below them, and two mirrored leafy sprigs lower still. Three tiny hearts of different sizes float above the birds. Everything is worked in one floss colour on white Aida: the lines are thin and no area is filled, so the piece reads like a pen drawing. That makes a mistake obvious at once, but the finished work looks very clean.
