Description

“Whitecoat” shows a small white seal pup lying with its eyes closed while sparks scatter around it.

What the picture shows

The figure is compact and rounded: the body is worked in white, grey and pale blue, the eyes closed as two dark arcs, the flippers tucked in. Small orange-gold dots are scattered over the back and read as sunlight on wet fur. A trail of tiny white stitches, stars and dots flies off to the left of the muzzle, like breath in frosty air. Eleven floss colours make up the whole palette, and nearly all of it is white and grey with a few warm flecks. The background is not stitched: in the photo the motif is worked on dark denim, and the contrast with the heavy fabric is what makes the figure visible. The motif is low and wide, so it reads as a band running along the pocket.
