Description

“Sun's Kiss” shows a large lilac butterfly with eyespots on its wings.

What the picture shows

The butterfly rests with its wings open, turned slightly to one side. The wings are violet and lilac with dark veins, each carrying several round eyespots ringed in cream and orange; the body is covered in fine down and the antennae are long and thin. Behind it the pale contours of grasses and flower heads barely show — they are not filled with colour but left as a light sketch on the white canvas. Thirteen floss colours, 28 m. The eyespots are built from several rings of different colours — the finest and most exacting area of the piece.

A 170×170 mm design, rated simple. The contrast of a dense butterfly against an almost empty ground carries a frame with a wide mount, chosen separately; a decorative hoop is in the kit. The chart carries a SAGA QR code; the pale background contours show up better on a screen than in print. Stitch the pale grass contours first; the butterfly then simply lies over them.
