Description

“Native Ukraine!” shows a blue-and-yellow heart with a dove flying across it.

What the picture shows

The heart is filled with two dense patches: light blue in the upper half, yellow in the lower, with deliberately ragged edges as if painted with a brush. A dove with spread wings and tail is drawn over the heart in a thin dark outline, an olive sprig in its beak. The outline is never filled, so the bird stays transparent and the colour of the heart and the clean white canvas show through it. Three floss colours and 15 m of thread. The bird's outline is a single thin line, and how even it is decides how clean the finished drawing looks.

A 150×150 mm design, rated simple: two large fills and an outline. It looks equally good in the hoop from the kit and in a slim light frame chosen separately. Work the two colour patches of the heart first, then run the outline of the dove over them. The olive sprig is stitched at the end: it reaches beyond the heart.
