Description

“Multicolored” shows a spray of peacock feathers in turquoise, yellow and violet.

What the picture shows

The largest feather stands in the middle: its barbs are worked in turquoise and emerald, and a yellow-orange eye with a pale centre burns at its heart. Smaller feathers spread to the left and right — lilac and violet with dark veining, light blue shading into green, blue-violet with a pink edge — and a narrow green quill sticks up at the top. The shafts are pale and the barbs are short slanted stitches, so the plumage looks ruffled and alive. Eighteen floss colours build a saturated rainbow in which no shade repeats twice. The ground stays clear: in the photo it is the white fabric of a shirt, and the feathers seem to lie straight on it. The design fans upwards, so the lower edge of the motif is narrow.
