Description

“Moon’s melody” shows a full moon woven from blue, lilac and pearl.

What the picture shows

The disc takes up almost the whole field, leaving only a narrow band of black around the edge. Its surface is built from small patches: deep blue and violet seas, pale lilac and pink areas, cream-white rims and darker craters towards the lower edge. The colours have no hard borders and flow into one another, so the moon looks painted rather than counted in crosses. The black Aida around the disc is left unstitched and reads as the night sky. Seventeen floss colours and thirty-two metres of thread go almost entirely into the circle itself, which is what puts the piece at an average level.
