Description

“Forest handsome” shows a red fly agaric in a wreath of ferns, berries and grasses.

What the picture shows

The mushroom stands in the centre: a bright red cap with white dots and a pale stem with a faint ring. A closed circle of small woodland plants runs around it — green and olive ferns, ochre grass heads, red wild strawberries and thin curving stems. The navy canvas is left unstitched and works as deep forest dusk against which the red glows. Nineteen floss colours, 30 m of thread. The stem is worked almost in white with grey shadows, so it glows against the dark ground just as the cap does.
