Description

“Flover” is a white-and-gold floral composition on black, put together almost without colour.

What the picture shows

A large open blossom with a finely worked centre sits in the middle, smaller flower heads and buds scattered around it, with golden leaves and thin stems in metallic thread laid between them. A few golden butterflies drift above the composition, and golden specks of Preciosa beads are scattered across the black field. The black canvas is not covered at all — it is what carries the contrast. Only five floss colours and 21 m of thread, yet the rating is average because of the fine drawing. The small flowers are worked in almost a single white, and the volume comes only from changing stitch density and the golden veins.
