Description

“Fireflies” shows a large firefly sitting on a golden crescent moon with small lights flickering around it.

What the picture shows

The moon lies diagonally across the whole circle, worked in golden yellow with warm orange along the edge. A firefly sits on it with open pink and red wings and a belly glowing yellow-white, with thin rays spreading out from it. Smaller lantern beetles with yellow lights are scattered above and below. The ground here is filled completely: a dark blue sky with a violet swirl at the top and thick dark grasses below — turquoise, emerald and lilac stems carrying tiny flowers. Twenty floss colours and twenty-eight metres of thread build a saturated, almost stained-glass surface. The moon splits the circle diagonally, so the eye reads it first and only then finds the smaller lights.
