What the picture shows

The animal's head and trunk are covered with a dense pattern: concentric circles, dots, petals and scrolls in crimson, violet, turquoise and gold. The ears are drawn in a fine outline and a jewel with pendants hangs on the forehead. Small coloured specks like paint splashes fly around the silhouette. The light blue canvas is left unstitched and stays as bright air around it. Thirty-two floss colours, 74 m. The pattern on the head is built from small symmetrical elements, so the left and right halves are stitched alike.

At 300×300 mm this is a cushion rather than a picture. The kit includes fabric to sew the cover; the cushion pad itself is bought separately. If you prefer, the finished panel can also be framed. Wash the finished piece and press it from the back before sewing — the seams then lie more evenly. The coloured splashes are added at the end, once the elephant silhouette is complete.
