“Direction to harmony” shows a compass rose in a wreath of peonies and dahlias.

What the picture shows

A pink and red compass card with eight rays, a graduated ring and a slender needle sits in the centre. Large flowers crowd it from below and the sides: cream peonies, crimson dahlias and lilac clusters, with green leaves and small buds between them. The upper part of the circle stays light and almost unstitched, so the white canvas works as air. Twenty floss colours over 34 m, with many close shades of pink. The graduations on the compass card are single stitches that must land precisely, or the circle loses its evenness.
