Description

“Blooms” shows a little tree covered in pink hearts instead of blossom, with a garland of letters strung across its trunk.

What the picture shows

The crown is built from small hearts — pink, raspberry, mint and pale yellow — mixed with stitches of blossom, and the branches show through them as thin greyish pink lines. A garland of four hearts carrying the letters L, O, V and E is tied across the trunk to the side branches. Pink butterflies flutter around the crown, while the roots and the grass below are worked in soft greens and beiges. Fifteen floss colours are laid in pastel tones with no sharp transitions, which gives the piece a watercolour look. The white Aida stays as the background and keeps the drawing light. The design sits in a circle: the crown fills the upper two thirds, the trunk with its garland the middle, and a narrow strip of grass closes the bottom.
