“Amulet of dreams” shows a blue horseshoe wound with lavender and marigolds.

What the picture shows

The horseshoe stands with its ends up and almost closes the circle; it is blue with violet shadows and small nail holes. Tall lavender spikes grow through it, from pale blue to deep violet, and a dense bunch of orange and yellow marigolds with narrow leaves lies below. The white canvas stays clean at the edges and inside the horseshoe. Eighteen floss colours, 30 m of thread. The lavender spikes are worked in short vertical stitches, so they look downy rather than flat.

Stitch the horseshoe first: it sets the geometry of the whole composition, and the flowers then lie over it. The piece looks good beside the other floral subjects in the series.
