Description

“Winter Vibes” is a patchwork square with a snow-and-blue star on a white ground.

What the picture shows

The rays are printed in two shades of blue and the corners in black and navy, while the beads outline every patch: pale blue over the light ones, dark over the dark. That makes the star look faceted, almost like a paper snowflake. The centre is marked with a single dark bead. The white ground is left unbeaded so the contrast works at full strength. The square is trimmed with a blue rim and hangs on a white ribbon. The second part of the work is a matching square with an eight-pointed star inside a blue frame.

The pieces are sewn together with the padding inside and hung on the ribbon. The cool blue and white palette suits a winter window as well as a tree. The pattern is printed on the canvas in colour, so the beads go straight along the patches. The reel of thread, the needles and the linen in the photo are styling props and are not included. The dark corners are best worked after the light ones, so the blues do not get mixed up.
