“White spruce” is a Christmas tree brooch in white and pearl beads with pearls.

What the picture shows

The tree is built from three tiers of branches that widen towards the bottom, plus a short trunk. The whole tree is worked in white, milky and pearl beads — there is almost no colour here, and the different textures do the work. Pearls sit along the edges of the branches like large baubles, while rondelles and drops light up the gaps between them. Bugle beads mark the short twigs and leaf stones the tips of the tiers. The kit holds 10 bead colours, the quietest palette among the winter pieces in the range. Inside the outline the canvas is stitched densely, then cut out.
