Description

“The spirit of the holiday” shows an angel with white wings and a turquoise dress against warm ochre with printed swirls.

What the picture shows

The wings are worked in large matt beads laid like feathers; the dress in turquoise and mint beads with a golden hem; copper beads glint in the hair and on the sleeves. The face and hands stay printed, which keeps the angel from looking overdressed. The circle is trimmed with a copper-gold rim and the ribbon is dark grey. The second part of the work is a clock face with Roman numerals worked in turquoise, white and golden beads.

The two pieces are sewn together with the padding inside and hung on a grey ribbon. The palette is not childlike, so the ornament also looks good on a wreath or a branch in a vase rather than only on the tree. The sheet music, kraft envelope and greenery in the photo are styling props. The wings are worked in large beads along curves, and the tilt of the rows decides whether the feathers show. The pattern is in colour, printed on the canvas.
