Description

“The key to the heart-2” is the same heart as in the first piece of the pair, but worked in black and white. The mood is quieter, almost graphic.

What the picture shows

The heart is worked in white, pearl and several greys, from pale to nearly graphite. Black leopard spots are scattered over the field, and closer to the bottom a cat’s face appears: light cheeks, a black nose and thin whiskers. The outline is black with a metallic sheen. Nine colours, all achromatic, so the drawing rests purely on light and shadow with no warm tone at all. The beading is dense and the canvas print shows only between the rows.
