Description

“The Dragon” is a fiery dragon coiled into a spiral on a shield-shaped brooch. The mood is heraldic rather than fairy-tale.

What the picture shows

The dragon’s body is rolled into a ring: a red and orange spiral unwinds from the centre, with a head and an open jaw readable inside it. Orange and cream beads radiate around it like tongues of flame. A black outline with small turquoise dots runs along the edge, and two light blue strokes at the top read as wings. Thirteen colours stay in a warm range, from milky cream to brick. The beads are laid in circular rows, and the coloured print of the canvas stays visible in the gaps between them, setting the tone under the beadwork.

The drawing is built on a spiral, so the rows are easiest to work from the centre outward — the outline comes out cleaner than starting from the edge.
