Description

“Sweet honey” is a patchwork bee with a black-and-yellow striped body and pale blue wings.

What the picture shows

The body is built from printed patches — black and yellow stripes — and the beads outline each stripe separately, so they stand out in relief. The wings are pale blue with a white bead border; the head is black with a yellow dot. The white ground carries faint printed grasses and is left unbeaded. The square is trimmed with a yellow rim and hangs on a white ribbon. The second part of the work is a square with a patchwork flower in blue, green and pink.

The pieces are sewn together with the padding inside and a ribbon loop is left at the top. The bee looks good in a kitchen next to the honey jars, or as a decoration on a gift. The pattern is printed on the canvas in colour, with no separate symbol key needed. The scissors, coneflowers and linen in the photo are styling props. The stripes on the bee’s body are worked in turn, from the head to the tip of the abdomen.
