Description

“Playful curls” is an elongated boat-shaped brooch with black curls on a warm coral ground.

What the picture shows

The shape is pointed at both ends. In the centre sits a large flower with pink and cream petals and a yellow middle; thin black curls run out from it in both directions like wrought-iron tendrils. Openwork black rosettes with pink dots sit symmetrically at the top and bottom. The coral ground between the elements stays as print on the canvas — the beading is not solid here, it carries only the drawing and the red border along the outline. Twelve colours, of which black, coral and pink stand out most.

The embroidery is cut out along the outline and mounted as a brooch — the pin and backing are chosen separately, and the glass box in the photo is not part of the kit. The black curls are thin and are worked one bead at a time — this is the stage worth slowing down on, because the crispness of the drawing depends on it.
