Christmas Ornament Bead Embroidery Kit "Pink baby elephant"

“Pink baby elephant” is an elephant in a festive caparison, worked in pink and gold.

What the picture shows

The elephant walks to the left, its trunk raised in an arc. The body is worked in pink and lilac beads, with gold beads drawing the lines of the caparison: arcs across the back, circles on the flank and a fine border along the legs. The ear is marked by a large pink drop with a turquoise rim, and a round stone with a rainbow sheen glows at the centre of the blanket. Blue and turquoise beads add contrast in the ear and on the back. Twelve colours, built on pink and gold; the ornament is fine, so the rows need to be laid carefully. The trunk, ear and legs are outlined in gold separately from the body, so the elephant’s silhouette reads even from a distance.

The piece is horizontal and small. The embroidery is cut out along the outline and mounted as a brooch; the stones, the pin and the backing are chosen separately. The gold lines of the caparison are laid once the pink field is filled — otherwise the ornament shifts easily and the symmetry is lost.
