Christmas Ornament Bead Embroidery Kit "Feather"

“Pen” is a large black feather with a gold shaft and amber inserts along the vane.

What the picture shows

The feather curves in an arc, its sharp tip pointing down and to the left. A row of gold beads marks the shaft along the whole length. The wider left part of the vane is worked in black beads with a blue sheen, laid in diagonal rows to show the direction of the barbs. The right part is lighter: bands of honey, amber and gold beads run there, with several faceted stones in smoke and amber set between them. Thirteen colours, and the whole contrast is built on black against gold. The right half is lighter than the left, so the feather looks turned toward the light. The shaft runs the whole length and holds the composition together.

The piece is vertical and curved. The embroidery is cut out along the outline of the feather and mounted as a brooch; the stones, the pin and the backing are chosen separately. The diagonal rows of the vane carry the whole texture, so the angle is worth keeping the same from the base to the tip of the feather.
