Description

“Peacock” is a round brooch with an open peacock tail, held together by blue and turquoise.

What the picture shows

The bird has spread its tail across the whole width of the piece: gold-and-green “eyes” with blue centres are scattered in a circle, with faceted turquoise navette stones between them. A navy outline marks the body and a small crest at the top. The ground around it is worked in light blue and pink beads, and the edge is closed with a dense blue row. Two strands of beads swing below like little chains. Fifteen colours run from pale blue to almost ink; the beading is dense and the canvas print shows only in the gaps between rows.

The piece is small and almost round. The finished embroidery is cut out along the outline and mounted as a brooch — the stones, the pin and the backing are chosen separately.
