Description

“Passion” is a large open rose on a coral ground, framed by a black lace pattern.

What the picture shows

The piece is elongated and pointed at the top and bottom. A rose fills the centre, worked from white and pale pink at the core to deep red at the petal edges, the petals spiralling outward. Above and below it lie openwork black rosettes with small red dots that read as lace. The coral ground between the flower and the ornament stays as print on the canvas — the beading is not solid here, it carries only the drawing and the black border along the outline. Nine colours: reds, pinks, whites and black.

The piece is vertical, close to twice as tall as wide. The embroidery is cut out along the outline and mounted as a brooch; the pin and backing are chosen separately, and the lace in the photo is not part of the kit. The rose petals are worked in a spiral from the middle, and the black lace comes last, once it is clear where the gaps should stay.
