Description

“Oak leaflet” is an autumn oak leaf in an amber and orange range. It is the smallest of the jewellery pieces in the batch.

What the picture shows

The leaf lies at an angle, with a wavy edge and clearly drawn lobes. The central vein is marked in gold beads, and side veins fan out from it in brown and bronze. The body of the leaf is worked in orange, amber and ochre, while a thin pale grey, almost silver border runs along the very edge to suggest a dried rim. A short gold stem shows at the bottom. Eleven colours stay in a warm range; the only cool note is the grey outline. Between the bead rows the canvas shows here and there and adds depth to the drawing.
