“New Year's hous” shows a fairy-tale cottage with pink walls and a snow-covered roof on a mint-turquoise ground.

What the picture shows

The roof and the drifts are worked in white matt beads, the walls stay printed in pink, and red and green beads are scattered across the facade as a garland and little firs by the porch. A band of snow in large white beads runs along the bottom, and a pointed turret with red and green needles rises at the top. White three-bead snowflakes are dotted around and the edge is trimmed with white beads. The second part of the work uses the same turquoise ground with a gingerbread house in pink and red trim. The cottage windows stay printed and glow in a warm colour.

The two pieces are sewn together with the padding inside and hung on a ribbon. Mint is rare in Christmas decor, so this ornament stands out among the usual reds and greens. The thuja, cones and the tree card in the photo are styling props. The snow on the roof is worked in large beads and the garland in small ones, and that contrast holds the whole picture together. The pattern is printed on the canvas.
