Christmas Ornament Bead Embroidery Kit "Ladybug"

Ladybug is a domed red beetle worked in faceted beads and stones, with a palette held to just two colours — red and black.

What the picture shows

The back of the ladybug is built from dark red faceted beads set tightly against one another, so the surface comes out three-dimensional and catches the light at an angle. The head and the lower part of the figure are black: small black beads, silver-graphite facets beside them, and a large clear stone with a rainbow sheen in the centre. Thin strands of black beads run out from the body — these are the legs and antennae, tipped with tiny golden beads. The eleven colours stay within red, black and silver, so the beetle reads as one solid shape rather than a busy pattern. The scheme is printed on the canvas in full colour, so the narrow gaps between beads remain as print in a matching tone.

The finished 56×71 mm brooch is assembled following the instructions in the kit. The ceramic plate, red kerchief and daisies in the photo are props and are not included. The piece is of average difficulty: most of the area is the even field of the back, and only the legs and the fine beadwork around the stone ask for attention.
