Christmas Ornament Bead Embroidery Kit "Gleam of citrine"

“Gleam of citrine” is a butterfly in a honey and gold range; the name comes from the colour of the stones set into it.

What the picture shows

The wings are spread symmetrically and outlined in brown with fine beads. A large faceted drop the colour of golden topaz lies on each upper wing, with a smaller insert of the same tone below it, while round stones the colour of tea rose glow on the lower wings. The field between them is filled with beige, peach and cream beads, with amber flecks along the edge. The body is worked in dark brown. Thirteen colours, all warm: from milk to almost chocolate, with no cool tone at all. The stones are unevenly sized: large drops at the top, smaller round inserts below, and that keeps the wings from looking flat.

The piece is horizontal and small. The embroidery is cut out along the wing outline and mounted as a brooch; the stones, the pin and the backing are chosen separately. The wings are symmetrical, so the right half mirrors the left. The warm palette works well against beige or brown clothing.
