Christmas Ornament Bead Embroidery Kit "Garnet"

“Garnet” is a ripe pomegranate with an opened side, in a deep red and gold range.

What the picture shows

The fruit is round, with a crown-shaped calyx at the top worked in dark red and gold beads. The right half is smooth, laid in dense rows of red; the left half is “open”, showing seeds made of transparent garnet beads, bugle beads and gold inserts set in vertical columns. A faceted burgundy drop glows in the upper left. The outline is dark cherry. Thirteen colours, nearly all shades of red, from orange-brick to almost black; gold is the single light accent. The bugle beads in the seeds are set vertically, so the light falls on them in stripes rather than dots. It is the most noticeable texture in the piece.

The piece is vertical and compact. The embroidery is cut out along the outline of the fruit and mounted as a brooch; the stone, the pin and the backing are chosen separately. The seeds are worked with beads of different shapes, so that area looks more textured than the smooth side of the fruit. The piece is small and quick.
