Description

“Egret” is a paisley-shaped feather brooch, close to the ornaments once worn on a hat or a turban.

What the picture shows

The shape curves like a drop with a drawn-out tip. Arcs are layered inside it: gold along the very edge, then navy, turquoise, green and navy again, as if the feather had several rows of down. A large clear drop is set in the widest part, ringed with blue beads. Gold beads and small faceted crystals are strung along the outline, and a single honey-coloured drop hangs below. Ten colours, built on blue and gold; the beading is dense and the canvas shows only between the rows. Gold beads along the outline separate the feather from the ground and sharpen the whole piece.
