Description

“Eerie beauty” shows a skeleton in profile among thick clusters of red berries on a grey ground.

What the picture shows

The berries are worked in two shades of red bead, falling in bunches that almost embrace the figure, while the dark branches and leaves are laid in black beads. The skeleton itself stays printed and the beadwork does not cover it: the bones read through the berry lace. The circle is trimmed with a black rim and hangs on a silver-grey ribbon. The second part of the work uses the same grey base with a black raven, a skull and red berries. The black branches behind the berries are left almost free of beads.

The two pieces are sewn together with the padding inside and hung on the ribbon. This is decor for a Halloween evening or a dark shelf rather than for a Christmas tree. The bare twigs, kraft paper and burgundy card in the photo are styling props. The berries are worked in clusters of three or four beads, so the piece moves quickly despite looking fine-grained. The pattern is in colour and printed straight on the canvas.
