Description
“Christmas Song” shows a plump bird in a red hat and scarf perched on a branch among holly.
What the picture shows
Red beads build the hat, the scarf and the berries on the branch, green ones the holly leaves, and a few golden beads mark the wing. The bird itself is left printed: greyish-beige plumage, a black eye, thin feet on the branch. The white ground carries faint pink specks and is not beaded either. A red rim around the circle holds the composition together, with a long white ribbon on top. The beads sit as patches over the drawing rather than covering it. The holly berries are worked as three red beads set side by side.

The two parts of the work are sewn together, the fiberfill goes inside and a loop is drawn out. The pale ornament looks good on a green tree and on a fir wreath. The kit is designed as a simple exercise: the pattern is printed on the canvas in colour and there are only five bead colours. The fir branches, cones, cinnamon stick and the old card in the photo are styling props.
