Description

“Christmas Singing” shows a red cardinal on a snowy branch beside a glowing golden lantern.

What the picture shows

The bird is worked in several shades of red bead, the crest and tail in darker ones, the beak as a golden dot. A branch with white snow and dark green needles lies beneath it. The pale blue ground carries printed snowfall and is left open. The circle is trimmed with a bright red rim and hangs on a white ribbon. The second part of the work uses the same base with a lantern: the body in golden and copper beads, a yellow glow inside, red berries and green leaves below.

Both pieces are sewn together with the padding inside and a ribbon loop is left. The pairing of bird and lantern works well together, so the two ornaments are often hung side by side on one branch. The pattern is in colour and printed straight on the canvas. The glass snowflakes, the bell, the cones and the knitted throw in the photo are styling props. The yellow light inside the lantern is left printed and the beads only frame it.
