Christmas Ornament Bead Embroidery Kit "Bullfinch"

“Bullfinch” is a bullfinch with a bright red breast, built on the contrast between dark beads and a fluffy red insert.

What the picture shows

The bird sits turned to the left. Head, back and tail are worked in black and graphite beads with a metallic sheen, among which small faceted inserts and short bugle strokes catch the light. The beak is picked out in pale grey beads, the eye is a dark drop in a silver rim. The breast is red: a row of faceted red stones lies beneath it, and in the photo a fur pompom is sewn on top, which is what gives the volume. Twenty colours make the largest palette among the jewellery pieces in the batch, although nearly all of it stays within black and grey. Red takes up the smaller part of the piece, yet it is what draws the eye.

The piece is vertical and compact, suited to the winter season. The embroidery is cut out along the outline and mounted as a brooch; the pompom, the stones and the pin are chosen separately. Twenty closely related greys are easy to confuse, so it is better to sort the beads into labelled compartments before starting.
