Description

Teddy bear and dragonfly shows a dark navy bear cub in a knitted hat standing between two turquoise dragonflies.

What the picture shows

The figure is worked in blue and black beads — the darkest patch in the piece, reading as a silhouette against the pale ground. The hat is done in light blue with a pink flower at the side, and a string of yellow beads hangs from one paw. Dragonflies sit at the upper left and right: long turquoise bodies with the clear wings shown as two rows of beads. A cup with a pink posy stands at the lower right, and a pink flower blooms on the left. The pastel checked ground with its printed pails is left unbeaded. There are 10 colours. The dark silhouette is worked first — after it, it is easier to judge how much room the dragonflies have. The dragonfly wings are worked as two parallel rows with a gap left between them, and that gap is what makes them look transparent.
